Being a teacher and a mom of a soon to be Kindergartener, I cannot believe that we are already talking back to school. Since it will be here before we know it, I have been getting things together for the start of school.
Up until this year, the boys have always had monogrammed, seersucker backpacks. Grayson will continue to use his for this upcoming school year, and I just bought Preston this one.
I remember starting a new school year when I was in elementary school and being SO excited about my new backpack each year. When I asked Hunter what kind of backpack he wanted, I knew the answer I was going to get – Ninjago. Hunter loves the Lego Ninjagos to play with and the show, so it was only fitting for him to want that for a backpack. So, I was on the hunt for a Ninjago backpack that Hunter and I would approve of (a hard task – haha). We ended up settling on this one. Hunter is thrilled and my mama heart is happy for him.
While I was searching (and searching) for Hunter’s new backpack I came across so many that I liked and hadn’t seen before! Being a teacher, I see the same backpacks (in a different pattern) over and over again. So if you are searching for something a bit different than the standard backpack that every child has – search no further! See my favorites below.
We’ve talked about getting family photos taken before and how I do it pretty regularly with my family, I love (it also makes me sad) seeing how the boys change and grow from year to year. Well if you are due for family photos then you are going to need some outfit inspo for summer time family photos! We’re here to help, and show you a handful of outfits we’ve done in the past.
Michelle and I approach family photos similarly but execute them differently! When choosing the perfect colorscape for photos we both typically start with the kids. We find what they will be wearing first and then coordinate our outfits and our husbands around that. There has been the occasional time when I know exactly what I want to wear and I find the boys outfits to go with it, but that is harder to me.
Michelle is not into matching as much as I am. Although having a boy and a girl lends itself to naturally not match but to coordinate. Even if Michelle had two children of the same gender, you wouldn’t see her matching her children. I, on the other hand, love matching my boys – and not just for family photos as you’ve seen over the past year.
One thing I love now is that many retailers are starting to create a ‘family’ section on their sites – it makes this whole process so much easier. When finding coordinating or matching pieces for the kids, we typically shop at Smocked Auctions, Cecil & Lou, Lily Pulitzer, and Vineyard Vines. All of these retailers have great options if you want to find both coordinating pieces or matching sets.
Hi Everyone! Happy Monday! Today we are talking about our new obsession…SiO Beauty wrinkle patches! A couple years ago, we both started to notice the annoying wrinkle or two on our face and chest and unfortunately with age, the wrinkles just keep appearing. We bought our first wrinkle patch a couple years back and trust us when we say we are loving this product.
These patches are multi-use and they sculpt skin and boost hydration and leave such a refreshing glow. They are totally non-invasive which is one of the big reasons we love SiO!
Our Favorite Patches:
These patches would make a great gift for your mom, MIL, daughter, sister, friend, etc. or even better, treat yourself!
We took a poll on Instagram last week and from the results it seems as if a lot of you are going to be shopping (or taking a look) at the Nordstrom Sale! Some of you may have already started shopping (Icon and Ambassador), some can start tomorrow (Influencer), and then public access opens July 28th! Regardless, we are sharing our top 5 items on our wish list. See below for both Michelle & Kelly’s picks!
As I’ve gotten older, my summer essentials have changed dramatically! I used to live in bikinis and dresses all summer but now that I am chasing three boys around, I’ve had to change my summer style. Although I still wear dresses every chance I can, I also wear my denim shorts and tennis skirts way more than I ever thought I would.
Today, I’ve found a number of “summer essentials” (at least in my book) for you. These are all items that, if you have kids, you can run around and play with them – while still feeling put together and appropriate. At the same time, if you don’t have kids, these items would all work for you too -they are cute and functional!
When I posted a picture of me in this dress on our instagram account the other week, you all LOVED it! I received a number of questions and requests for the link so I figured I would give it a permanent spot here for you to refer back to if you wanted.
I got this dress from Shein. If you don’t know about the website Shein, don’t look until you have time to scroll, and scroll, and scroll. Because you will end up on the site for a while, your cart will be FULL, and you will be amazed at the prices.
I have worn this dress a handful of times and each time people have loved it, and so do I! The colors, the tie straps, the smocked chest – I could go on an on. It totally gives off the feel of being way pricier than it actually is. It looks very similar to this Zimmermann dress, this Rhode Ollie dress, and this MacGraw Florence dress… but without the pricetag. When ordering from Shein, you do have to make sure to look at the size chart for all items (my size varies their depending on the item) but this dress definitely fits true to size. I am in a small, my normal size.
Where is your favorite place to shop at great prices?!

We just perused the kids sale – see out favorite picks for boys and girls below!
Boy Items Green Slacks – love the color of these, if green isn’t your thing there are plenty of other color choices Polo – always on the lookout for a basic polo Sweater – I always make sure to grab this sweater when its on sale, the boys wear this on repeat in the fall and winter months T-shirt – another great basic Striped Pajamas – plan way ahead and order the next size up for next years 4th of July! Long Sleeve Polo – can you tell that I love basics for my boys?! haha – this one also comes in other colors
Summer pajamas can be tricky to find, in my opinion. You want them to be cozy and comfortable, yet lightweight and breathable. They need to be warm enough for the air conditioned house but cool enough for the days where you don’t need air conditioning. My personal favorite type of summer pajamas are a shorts and long sleeve set. I find that my arms get cold in the air conditioning but if it’s lightweight enough then I don’t have to worry about being warm when I’m under the covers sleeping!
*white set – it’s the dainty ruffle hem on the shorts for me *black set – i have a love this set! *long sleeve floral – the perfect set to have for slow summer mornings *green set – this set can take you from late night drinks in the backyard straight to sleeping! *short sleeve floral – how precious is this Kate Spade set? *leopard set – i can never pass on leopard… and this set is on major sale right now! *pink set – adore the lace detail on the shorts *long sleeve pink – the set I am wearing in the picture – love, love, love – seriously the best pj brand out there! *blue combo set – i love having options in my sleepwear, so this set is perfect *white nightie – i love a good nightie, this one is so pretty!
The LWD…such a wardrobe staple, especially during these summer months! Whether you are a bride-to-be getting ready to celebrate your wedding shower or just looking for a fresh new white dress to wear to brunch and around town, we got you covered!
