Fall Essentials: This or That Part 1

Fall Essentials: This or That Part 1

We thought it would be fun to play a little this or that game over the next few weeks with fall essential trends. The trend with are starting with this week is with your denim. Do you prefer skinny jeans or flared jeans?

similar sweater here and here * similar jeans * booties

Michelle is a skinny jean girl through and through, while I like to change things up a bit. I am thrilled that flared jeans are back in style (I personally have never stopped wearing them over the years). The flared jeans that I am wearing in this picture are probably 10 years old from Forever 21, so they no longer have this exact pair…. but I’ve found you all a wide range of flared denim to try out if you are in search for some this fall.

If you know you like the flared jean trend and are looking for a nicer brand then these dark wash Frame jeans or these light wash Good American would be the ones I would get. Not looking to spend over $150 on a trend you aren’t so sure about? I hear you! I found these Abercrombie jeans and these pull on Free People jeans – both are under $100 and look so good. Even still, not sold on flares but still curious? Head to Forever 21 and look at these jeans – at $29 you can’t go wrong (and you could be me, still wearing them 10 years later haha!).

What are your thoughts, skinny jeans or flared jeans? We would love to know!

Football Season: What to Wear to a Tailgate

Football Season: What to Wear to a Tailgate

We are so excited that football is back this year in what appears to be normal conditions. Friday night lights with high school football is in session once again, and it feels like fall seeing them practice for their weekend games. With football comes tailgate parties, we love a good tailgate! Who doesn’t?!

Last year we bought this ‘tailgates & touchdowns’ sweatshirt from Draper James and we just love it! Unfortunately it is no longer on the Draper James website, but they do have this small adorable canvas bag. This ‘tailgates & touchdowns’ bag would look adorable in a clear (easy security check) tote.

Gameday Couture is a website that has such cute collegiate apparel. American Eagle also has some cute NFL options! This Chicago Bears raw hem sweatshirt would be perfect for the early fall games, before we have to bundle up. Also, Etsy has some really precious (and personalized, obviously) options. This crewneck sweatshirt is so adorable. I couldn’t forget about our alma maters – loving this old school Baylor tee and this super soft Dayton tee.

We are ready for Friday Night Lights and tailgates over here!

Leopard Cardigan

Leopard Cardigan

I love a good cardigan – maybe it’s the teacher in me?! haha! Make it a leopard cardigan and I’m all in! This sweater is a couple years old (but is still available here) and I wear it all. the. time!

A leopard duster is the perfect item to throw on for a cool morning dropping the kids off at school, pair it with leggings to run errands, or even just to lounge around the house in! I also found a couple of similar leopard dusters and linked them below.

Back to Work Outfits

Back to Work Outfits

Whether you are going back into the office after working from home for the past year and a half, you are a teacher heading back to school in August, you are just starting out your career, or anywhere in between- we have put together a handful of outfits for you to get you started at being back at work. All of these pieces are such basics that it is easy to mix, match, and rewear in a number of different ways!

This first dress is one that I have had for years and I absolutely love it! Since it is so old, it is no longer sold but I found similar options here, here, and here. My shoes are also old but here is a similar cork wedge and here is my work bag.

The next outfit is a dress (similar here) from Express, another oldie but goodie! For this dress you could easily dress it up with a pair of pumps or wear it more casually with sandals or sneakers, like I did here.

I adore this third outfit! These slacks are extremely comfortable and so cute. I love how the pattern on them is appropriate for the workplace but also fun. This top is darling with the scalloped detailing and it is a thicker tank, which makes it appropriate to wear without the sweater that I paired with it. I wore this outfit with these sandals but you could dress the outfit up a bit more by wearing wedges or a pair of heels.

My fourth outfit might be my favorite. I have posted about these Loft leggings before and I cannot get enough of them! My top (similar one is linked) is also from Loft and you cold honestly wear it anywhere. The detail on the side of the top is precious. I paired it with a tan blazer and brown ballet flats.

The fifth and final outfit is a bit more casual but just as adorable. I love this breezy tank that you could easily throw a cardigan or blazer over if your workplace is on the chilly side. These white slacks (similar pair linked here) are cute, comfortable, and lightweight. I paired this outfit with slide sandals, but again, you could dress it up a bit more by wearing heels.

Which look is your favorite?!

Summer Essentials

Summer Essentials

As I’ve gotten older, my summer essentials have changed dramatically! I used to live in bikinis and dresses all summer but now that I am chasing three boys around, I’ve had to change my summer style. Although I still wear dresses every chance I can, I also wear my denim shorts and tennis skirts way more than I ever thought I would.

Me – top * shorts
Preston – button down * shorts

Today, I’ve found a number of “summer essentials” (at least in my book) for you. These are all items that, if you have kids, you can run around and play with them – while still feeling put together and appropriate. At the same time, if you don’t have kids, these items would all work for you too -they are cute and functional!

Blue & White Dress

Blue & White Dress

When I posted a picture of me in this dress on our instagram account the other week, you all LOVED it! I received a number of questions and requests for the link so I figured I would give it a permanent spot here for you to refer back to if you wanted.

I got this dress from Shein. If you don’t know about the website Shein, don’t look until you have time to scroll, and scroll, and scroll. Because you will end up on the site for a while, your cart will be FULL, and you will be amazed at the prices.

I have worn this dress a handful of times and each time people have loved it, and so do I! The colors, the tie straps, the smocked chest – I could go on an on. It totally gives off the feel of being way pricier than it actually is. It looks very similar to this Zimmermann dress, this Rhode Ollie dress, and this MacGraw Florence dress… but without the pricetag. When ordering from Shein, you do have to make sure to look at the size chart for all items (my size varies their depending on the item) but this dress definitely fits true to size. I am in a small, my normal size.

Where is your favorite place to shop at great prices?!

Summer Pajamas

Summer Pajamas

Summer pajamas can be tricky to find, in my opinion. You want them to be cozy and comfortable, yet lightweight and breathable. They need to be warm enough for the air conditioned house but cool enough for the days where you don’t need air conditioning. My personal favorite type of summer pajamas are a shorts and long sleeve set. I find that my arms get cold in the air conditioning but if it’s lightweight enough then I don’t have to worry about being warm when I’m under the covers sleeping!

*white set – it’s the dainty ruffle hem on the shorts for me
*black set – i have a love this set!
*long sleeve floral – the perfect set to have for slow summer mornings
*green set – this set can take you from late night drinks in the backyard straight to sleeping!
*short sleeve floral – how precious is this Kate Spade set?
*leopard set – i can never pass on leopard… and this set is on major sale right now!
*pink set – adore the lace detail on the shorts
*long sleeve pink – the set I am wearing in the picture – love, love, love – seriously the best pj brand out there!
*blue combo set – i love having options in my sleepwear, so this set is perfect
*white nightie – i love a good nightie, this one is so pretty!

Airport Looks

Airport Looks

Now that we are in the full swing of summer travel, we figured we would share some of our favorite airport looks. When we travel, comfort is key, but comfort doesn’t have to mean that we don’t look put together! If we are traveling you will typically find Kelly in a dress (in the summer months) or a jumpsuit of some sort with either a cardigan or a denim jacket. Michelle will usually travel in athleisure. All of these options are cute, comfortable, and super easy to wear while traveling with kids!

What is your favorite look to style when you are traveling? Let us know in the comments!

Luvamia on Amazon

Luvamia on Amazon

We recently came across an Amazon shop that we are loving and wanted to share them with you all. Luvamia is a new found store for us, and we are so happy that we stumbled across it! We wanted to share the items that we received in our most recent order.

White top & Shorts – Since receiving these two items, I have worn them way more than I would like to admit. The top is the perfect top to throw on for any occasion and is so comfortable. And the shorts are such a great length for all the ‘mom’ things!

Workout set – Want to make a statement while at the gym, on a walk, or running errands?! Then this set is calling your name. I love a good workout set and this one is extremely comfortable, very soft, and fun!

Floral top – I just love this top. I love the little detailing on the adorable bell sleeves, I love the floral, I love that it has a dressier feel than just a basic top. It comes in so many different colors too, if floral isn’t your thing.

Tie Front Top – This tie front top is just the perfect combination of relaxed but dressy for me! I love how easy it is to wear to the park but also to dress it up for dinner out. Also, (not that I want to think about fall) but what a great transition piece for then.

Cropped Flare Jeans

Cropped Flare Jeans

Skinny jeans are still our main style of jeans that we both grab on the regular (they aren’t going anywhere in our book) but I have to say I do love the cropped flare look. It took me a second to get on board and find a pair that fit me the right way (I’m a bit on the shorter end at 5’3) but now that I have them I have to say I do love them!

The pair I got are from Express. They are a light wash denim, are high waisted, and are super stretchy. They have a light raw hem and do not lose their shape/sag as the day goes on.

I don’t know why it took me so long to give this look a shot – but now that I did, there is no turning back! I have found other alternatives to skinny jeans and linked them below for you. Some are cropped flares, some are straight leg, some are mom jeans – but they are all great options if you are looking to expand your wardrobe a bit out of your comfort zone.

  1. Express – versatile wash, raw hem, and 50% off!
  2. Nordstrom – i love the slight flare on this pair
  3. Revolve – the slightly scalloped hem does it for me
  4. Express – another great option if you aren’t wanting to spend a fortune – also 50% off
  5. Nordstrom – such a great white denim option and at a great price point
  6. Revolve – i love the light wash and slight distressing on this pair
  7. ShopBop – raw hem, slight distressing, great cropped length
  8. ShopBop – this pair is super stretchy and under $100
  9. Nordstrom – love this slim fit pair – again, great price point!
  10. Walmart – at $15 this is a great pair to start with if you want to test out the non-skinny jean look
