Yesterday we shared a handful of items that you could gift yourself this holiday season & today is all about giving to others! It is so easy to get wrapped up in all the things that we want but it is SO important to GIVE to others. Today we are focusing on the mail carriers and delivery workers of all kinds. The amount of packages that we get is ridiculous. When we were renovating our master, our contractor even mentioned that he had never been to a house where so many packages were delivered regularly… sorry Rob!
With the amount of deliveries that people get it’s hard to thank everyone, some come everyday and some less frequently. We started making a basket for delivery workers and have added items that they can easily grab while they drop a package at our front door. While this is not a new tradition for us, what is new is the adorable sign we got this year! While ordering my Christmas Cards I saw this sweet little sign that I thought would be perfect for our gift basket set up. I was so excited when it came in the mail – it was just what I wanted. If you order now, you will receive a digital download – so it will be ready to go at an easy click of a button!
The boys helped me put the treat basket together this year. We had so much fun AND they learned an important lesson about giving back – a win, win! If you are interested in more ways to give back this holiday season – we have a post coming mid December about that, so be on the lookout!

This week is all about mom and dad! For me, this category can be hard because truthfully I think parents can be tough to buy for! The constant question that runs through my head is “what do they even want?!” I want their gift to be thoughtful and from the heart yet enjoyed by them! I’ve complied a list of gifts from the past, some that I have my eye on for this year, and ones that girlfriends have suggested and would really recommend of any these for the parents in your life!
Hope this guide helps you buy for the mom/dad/step-parents/in-laws in your life!
A family photography session. This would be the perfect gift for the parent who “has everything already.” What a fun way to make memories this holiday season. If you are in the Chicago area we love Shelly Shimon Photography and Amanda Kay Photography.
Digital photo frame-there’s lots of different ones out there but our favorites are; Pix-Star and Skylight
We are so excited to kick off our first official TMB Holiday Gift Guide! Each week from now until Christmas (8 weeks, but #whoscoutning) we will be posting a new gift guide. We decided to start with our favorite, the kids! There’s nothing better then seeing that magic on their face when they see the gifts under the tree. Shopping for kids can be overwhelming to say the least….I mean, there is SO much out there! We have narrowed down some of our all time favorite purchases and ones that we have our eyes on this year. Hope this guide is helpful!
This week we are celebrating my husband, Kevins, birthday! He hates when all the attention is on him, especially during celebrations like this, but Kylie and I are so excited to make this week for him extra special! We have some surprises in store for him this week and will share those on our instagram page (@themeridianbliss) but for now we have rounded up our top choices when buying birthday gifts for him. Hope this helpful when you go to buy for the men in your life!
We are so excited to wish our Mom a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY today! She is our rock, role model, and we both look up to her in so many ways. She is the most self-less human being ever and when it comes to her birthday she is one of those people who never want anything! So that can sometimes make it tricky to know exactly what to get her. We have rounded up some of the best gifts for your mom, mother in law, aunt, etc!
Scarf/Wrap: This beautiful cashmere scarf would be such a luxe gift without breaking the bank!
Leather Gloves: I love that these leather gloves can be monogrammed with her initials on it….and not something you would typically want to buy for yourself!
Facial Roller: She can pamper herself at home with this relaxing facial roller. This is the one we ended up getting our mom but also love this option or this one!
Gift Card to salon/spa: It’s always nice to receive a gift card for a spa service! Whether that be a manicure, pedicure, massage! In our family we love Asha Salon for a day of pampering!
Yeti Mug: So versatile and again, not something you would typically by for yourself!
Gourmet Food Delivery: Everything from cheese, meat, oils, desserts, & tea. This site it all!
Facial Creams: Augustinus Bader eye cream is so luxurious and would be such a treat! Skin Ceuticals is another line we love (and at a much better price tag!). Either of these would make fabulous gifts!
Jewelry with birthstone of grandchildren: If your mom is anything like ours then grandkids are her whole heart! Gift her with this bracelet or necklace
If you haven’t heard of Little Passports, you are missing out! Little Passports is a monthly subscription that will take your child on an adventure like none other. Hunter and Grayson were gifted a subscription to Little Passports at the peak of our quarantine and it has been a life saver. Through Little Passports you select which subscription is most appropriate for your child based off of their age (there are 5 different ones offered) and then have the ability to select a year subscription, a 6 month subscription, or a month by month subscription.
Hunter and Grayson received the “Early Explorers” subscription which is appropriate for children ages 3-5 and it was definitely appropriate content for their ages. This subscription takes children around the world to learn about the different continents, oceans, space, food, and more. Each month children receive a package with all the contents they will need for the activities in that theme for the month. The first month your little explorers will receive a suitcase (to hold all Little Passport activities & supplies) and a wall sized world map in addition to the typical monthly activities. Every month following, children will receive: an activity booklet with age appropriate work, stickers, and some type of craft/game/imaginative play item, to name a few!
The activity booklet was great for my boys. Hunter (5 in December) would be able to work through the each page independently after I explained what was expected of him on the page. Grayson (3.5 years old) would need me to sit with him to guide him through most work. On the third month of receiving this package, Grayson was working through a page in the booklet and he remembered a similar activity that he did in a previous booklet. Since he remembered the previous one, he was able to complete that page completely independently and he was so proud that he did! I love that the activities in the booklet are predictable enough for familiarity and comfort for my boys but different enough to where they are not bored. The activity booklets work on: tracing, matching, patterns, same and different, color, and more!
If you have a little one (or a school aged child) I cannot recommend this subscription enough. It is a great way to teach new skills that children may not otherwise be exposed to. In addition, it provides children a fun and creative way to work on skills that they have been exposed to but are still working towards mastery.
Today’s post was inspired by our parents, today is their 38th anniversary! We know we are a bit biased 😉 but God has blessed us with the two most loving parents ever. These two have been the greatest example of what a healthy, happy, and loving marriage looks like. Their Christ-centered marriage has shown us God’s love through their unconditional love, sacrifice, and service towards one another. Thank you Mom and Dad for showing us how to do marriage right. We love you!
We often struggle with what to get couples as a gift for their anniversary, whether it be out parents, our in-laws, or our friends, it can be hard to come up with the perfect gift. We brainstormed a number of ideas and are going to go through them below. We hope this helps you when you are buying for your loved ones on their anniversary.
Map Wall Art – This etsy shop creates the most beautiful wall art pieces to display maps. How special to get the happy couple a map of where they said their vows, where they met, or a special vacation spot that they frequent. Personalized Stationery – We adore this sea script monogrammed flat note stationery. Everytime the recipients hand write a note to someone, they will be so grateful that you thought of this sweet gift. Keepsake Frame – This sweet keepsake frame is a wonderful option to make your gift extra personalized. Kelly actually has one of these for each of her boys. She got them when the boys were dedicated at church. Each frame has their own Bible verse on them that was chosen specifically for the boys. The frames are an extremely special keepsake for her! Personalized Dinner Napkins – These napkins would elevate any tablescape! Monogramming them with the couples initials, or the first letter of their last name, is a beautiful way to show you parents (or whoever you are buying for) that you love celebrating them. Virtual Wine Tasting – Date nights are a bit more challenging these days, so why not set up a date night for your parents at home?! This virtual wine tasting is a great option to provide a safe, comfortable, and different quarantine date night. Virtual Cooking Class – Your parents aren’t into wine? No problem! Gift them with a virtual cooking class for their date night in, it is another great option for those celebrating during this time of staying home. Portrait – The gift we ending up going with for our parents! Read below to hear about our experience working with J Fleur Illustrations.
This year for our parents’ anniversary gift, we worked with Jenny of J Fleur Illustrations to create a portrait of them from their wedding day. Working with Jenny from start to finish was flawless. She was able to work with our timeline, asked us questions along the way to make sure we were happy, and provided us with a perfect end result. For those of you who are not local to Chicago, no need to worry! You can email Jenny the photograph you want made into a portrait and it can be shipped to you upon completion. We surprised our parents with this gift last night and were thrilled with their reaction. Such a sweet, special gift. In addition, Jenny specializes in custom portraits of your loved ones and loved spaces. We love her sibling portraits, engagement portraits, family portraits, and custom home portraits! Check out a few of her pieces below and more on her Instagram @jfleur.illustrations
