Anyone else in need of a girls’ night out?! It feels like it’s been forever (and a lifetime ago) that we had a proper night out with our girlfriends. Ideally, we would love our girls nights to be monthly, but with kids schedules, work, family gatherings, etc. girls nights are far and few between. When they do happen though, it’s always nice getting dressed up and putting on a fun outfit for the occasion. We have put together a couple of our favorite girls night out looks below-take a look at let us know your favorite!
What do you like to do for girls night?! Whether your girls nights are at a restaurant, on a patio, or at someones house we love these “girls night out” looks that we put together! Cheers, girls!
One trend we love that we are happy to see everywhere this spring is the cut out trend! We think that this trend, if done properly, can add a little something extra to your basic outfit. We adore that this trend can be transferred and used in all areas of clothing and have tried it in some way in each category.
Above, I styled this trend in 3 different ways. The first way is for a casual date night/girls night look with a simple black cold shoulder top. The middle is for a shower or wedding. And the third is a sundress with a crocheted patchwork, to wear on any summer day! What is your favorite way to wear the cut out trend?
I am so excited for Easter, it is my very favorite holiday! What’s not to love? It’s is the start (in my mind) of spring, the clothes (for the whole family) are so darling, and most importantly it is the celebration of the risen Lord. I love wearing floral year round, but something feels different about floral when spring is upon us. Floral screams Easter to me and I will be wearing this dress for Easter but I’ve found a number of floral pieces that I would love to wear for Easter. The great thing about all of these dresses is that they can be worn for many different occasions. Some would be great dressed down with sandals for a summer day, some would be great for a baby/bridal shower, some work well for weddings – but all are darling! Enjoy!
I hope this collage of floral dresses brings you as much joy as it brings me!
With both of us being in the world of education – we countdown to spring break, just like we did when we were kids! And with just about one week away until spring break starts for me (Kelly) I figured I would post about some outfit ideas for your upcoming (whether it be now or in a few months) beach vacation. These pieces will easily take you to brunch, date night, or dinner with girlfriends this spring and summer too.
Winter in Chicago is no joke. It seems to last longer each year (of maybe I, Kelly, just like winter less and less each year – haha). I am definitely a person who gets cold easily, very easily, so warm winter wear is a must!
Kelly’s Look: Hat – my love for leopard print + Pink Lily is strong, so this beanie is right up my alley! Jacket – this North Face does the job of keeping me warm on chilly days. Boots – we both adore these cozy winter boots and love that our toes stay warm! Sunglasses – these lightweight sunglasses re idea for any type of sunny day! Gloves – I love how these come with the fleece lining on this pair of gloves. Jeans – these Articles of Society jeans are some of my favorites to wear on a regular basis.
Michelle’s Look: Hat – we love this ribbed pom-pom beanie, it comes in four other colors too! Jacket – is old but linking a similar here! This jacket, this jacket, and this one are also great options for maternity and post baby! Boots – these are the same boots that Kelly has, but in the quarry color. Sunglasses – are old but linking similar here! Gloves – good gloves are a necessity in the cold Chicago winters! Jeans – a good pair of maternity jeans is a must!
All things pink and hearts make us so happy, so Valentine’s Day is a great excuse for us to buy some adorable pieces! We’ve rounded up some of our favorites here.

I know I am not the only one who has been wearing sweaters on repeat and sometimes you just need a new one (or 2) to add to the rotation! I have always been a fan of Pink Lily and Katy, of Living My Best Style, that when they teamed up I knew it would be a good thing, Since then I have eyed this leopard sweater and finally decided to get it. Let me tell you, I am just as obsessed with it in person as I was on their website. I love the fact that you can wear this sweater with jeans or leggings and you can easily dress it up or down, talk about versatile!
The second sweater I bought (is sold out but here is a very similar one) I am also equally in love with. I bought this one with Thanksgiving in mind (which is what I wore on Thanksgiving) but I have worn it countless amounts of time since then. I adore the bell sleeves and the waffle knit material!
Pink Lily had great, and affordable, options with a ton of different styles, colors, and materials. Love their selection!
Since Hunter was born (almost 5 years ago!) my family has been getting family photos done regularly. With each of the boys we bought a package with our favorite photographer, Shelly Shimon (if you are local to Chicago, we cannot recommend her enough), where we had shoot throughout the first year – newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. So in the past 5 years we have had 15 family photo shoots… God Bless Rob for putting up with me and allowing this to happen! These photos that Shelly has taken over the years are some of my favorite pictures of my little lovebugs and I will cherish them forever!
So, to say that I love family photo sessions is an understatement! Is it a bit stressful? yes. Is it a challenge? yes. Does everyone always cooperate the day of? no. But we prioritize these sessions because our kids are only going to be 4, 3, and 1 once – so we need to capture it.
If you haven’t noticed this about me, I love to match my boys – whenever possible. I will match them as long as they let me, and they love it at this point so we’re going with it. Now that there are three boys at different ages, it has been a bit more challenging for me to find 3 of the same outfits (that I like) for the boys. I don’t have all matching clothes for them, so when I do buy coordinating outfits I try to be strategic about it. Once I have the boys outfits picked out I move to mine! From there, Rob is easily able to coordinate with what we are working with.
For these photos I was thinking Christmas cards, so I wanted to be festive (hence the red sweaters) but didn’t want to overdo it. When I ordered my dress, I was pretty nervous I wasn’t going to like it in person but I adore this dress now! I got it from Vici Collection and it is now on sale for just under $35 – only small sizes are left, which is what I am wearing. My boots are old Steve Madden but here are the more recent style… they are on sale right now! My earrings are also from Vici and are super lightweight and beautiful. Rob’s sweater is so soft and only $35 from Amazon and his shoes are old but similar options are linked here, here, and here.
Thank you Shelly, once again, for these amazing family photographs! We cherish each session we have with you – you are the best!
We love nothing more than dressing up (and warming up) an outfit by throwing on some type of a scarf. Now that we have had our first snow flurries of the year, we are officially in scarf season. There are so many different types of scarves/shawls, and then even more patterns and styles, that it is so easy to transform a look by putting one on with an otherwise basic outfit to make you feel a bit more put together.
I have had this marley lilly blanket scarf for a few years now and I still love it just as much as the day I bought it. It is so cozy and really keeps me warm! I also love that Marley Lilly also has the personalization option on this scarf (and pretty much everything on their site). I am all about personalizing/monogramming but I opted out on this particular scarf. I purchased the white oversized scarf at Nordstrom Rack a few years ago but this similar Kate Spade one takes it up a notch with the adorable bow detail. The Burberry poncho dupe is old but I found a similar one on Amazon
We got SO lucky this past weekend with 70 degree temperatures and sunny skies for our fall family pictures! Leading up to this day can be torturous…finding matching outfits, making sure everyone is ready, planning out the day, etc. but in the end it’s SO worth it. Each year I look back at our photos with the best memories ever.
I’m not one to do super matchy-matchy outfits but I love having fun with everyones different styles. It’s so fun the blend different hues and cuts and while it can sometimes feel like an Olympic Sport (okay, dramatic) I love the end product!
I’ve added links to the outfits we wore this year and last as well as some pictures from our session last year. Also, stay tuned for Kelly’s family photos later this season as she is doing a holiday shoot with her photographer! Do you take fall family photos? Or do you wait for the holidays? Would love hear how you style your shoots! Comment below!
