We’ve talked about getting family photos taken before and how I do it pretty regularly with my family, I love (it also makes me sad) seeing how the boys change and grow from year to year. Well if you are due for family photos then you are going to need some outfit inspo for summer time family photos! We’re here to help, and show you a handful of outfits we’ve done in the past.
Michelle and I approach family photos similarly but execute them differently! When choosing the perfect colorscape for photos we both typically start with the kids. We find what they will be wearing first and then coordinate our outfits and our husbands around that. There has been the occasional time when I know exactly what I want to wear and I find the boys outfits to go with it, but that is harder to me.
Michelle is not into matching as much as I am. Although having a boy and a girl lends itself to naturally not match but to coordinate. Even if Michelle had two children of the same gender, you wouldn’t see her matching her children. I, on the other hand, love matching my boys – and not just for family photos as you’ve seen over the past year.
One thing I love now is that many retailers are starting to create a ‘family’ section on their sites – it makes this whole process so much easier. When finding coordinating or matching pieces for the kids, we typically shop at Smocked Auctions, Cecil & Lou, Lily Pulitzer, and Vineyard Vines. All of these retailers have great options if you want to find both coordinating pieces or matching sets.
When I posted a picture of me in this dress on our instagram account the other week, you all LOVED it! I received a number of questions and requests for the link so I figured I would give it a permanent spot here for you to refer back to if you wanted.
I got this dress from Shein. If you don’t know about the website Shein, don’t look until you have time to scroll, and scroll, and scroll. Because you will end up on the site for a while, your cart will be FULL, and you will be amazed at the prices.
I have worn this dress a handful of times and each time people have loved it, and so do I! The colors, the tie straps, the smocked chest – I could go on an on. It totally gives off the feel of being way pricier than it actually is. It looks very similar to this Zimmermann dress, this Rhode Ollie dress, and this MacGraw Florence dress… but without the pricetag. When ordering from Shein, you do have to make sure to look at the size chart for all items (my size varies their depending on the item) but this dress definitely fits true to size. I am in a small, my normal size.
Where is your favorite place to shop at great prices?!
Now that we are in the full swing of summer travel, we figured we would share some of our favorite airport looks. When we travel, comfort is key, but comfort doesn’t have to mean that we don’t look put together! If we are traveling you will typically find Kelly in a dress (in the summer months) or a jumpsuit of some sort with either a cardigan or a denim jacket. Michelle will usually travel in athleisure. All of these options are cute, comfortable, and super easy to wear while traveling with kids!
What is your favorite look to style when you are traveling? Let us know in the comments!
With wedding showers, baby showers, sprinkles, etc. in full swing we wanted to share some outfit inspiration that would be perfect for any of these events! These dresses and jumpsuits below would be great for any type of shower or summer party. They could even be worn to brunch with friends or church on Sunday!
Hope this helps if you are in need of a new dress or outfit for an upcoming shower or event!
We recently came across an Amazon shop that we are loving and wanted to share them with you all. Luvamia is a new found store for us, and we are so happy that we stumbled across it! We wanted to share the items that we received in our most recent order.
White top & Shorts – Since receiving these two items, I have worn them way more than I would like to admit. The top is the perfect top to throw on for any occasion and is so comfortable. And the shorts are such a great length for all the ‘mom’ things!
Workout set – Want to make a statement while at the gym, on a walk, or running errands?! Then this set is calling your name. I love a good workout set and this one is extremely comfortable, very soft, and fun!
Floral top – I just love this top. I love the little detailing on the adorable bell sleeves, I love the floral, I love that it has a dressier feel than just a basic top. It comes in so many different colors too, if floral isn’t your thing.
Tie Front Top – This tie front top is just the perfect combination of relaxed but dressy for me! I love how easy it is to wear to the park but also to dress it up for dinner out. Also, (not that I want to think about fall) but what a great transition piece for then.
Both Michelle and I love the 4th of July, it is such a fun filled, feel good holiday! There are always a number of events that surround that week, and all of them (don’t – haha) require a new – red, white, and blue – outfit! We’ve found some great options here, and almost all of them you can wear more than just American holidays.
White Dress – love this breezy midi! Perfect for everyday wear throughout the summer Blue Sandals – the light blue color of these sandals makes them a great neutral to add to any outfit Navy One Piece – i adore the one shoulder bow! Blue Purse – the perfect little bag to add a little fun to monochromatic outfit Striped Dress – bqq, pool, beach – wherever you are headed, this dress would be a great choice Headband – i love the daisy detailing on this adorable headband Kimono – how perfect?! Throw it on over a suit or pair it with a white denim skirt! Earrings – absolutely adding these to my cart Denim Skirt – could not be happier that denim skirts are back in style Sunglasses – obsessed with these cute frames Navy Dress – another dress that you could wear literally anywhere this summer Red One Piece – the ruffles and the color make this such a fun, statement suit! Romper – this darling romper would take you from a 4th of july bbq to a date night! Red Sandals – adding a pop of color is so fun! Blue Dress – obsessed with this! Between the slit, the low back, and the strappy details. – I could not love this more!
Another thing to note, it’s easy to search for basic red, white, and blue apparel but if you are wanting more of an “American” themed outfit – then head over to Pink Lily! They have some adorable pieces to choose from.
Summer nights out with our husbands are our favorite! We love getting dressed up and having one on one time with them. For summer date nights, the outfit options are endless. We put together 4 different looks to help inspire you for your next date night.
Shorts We love the simplicity of shorts for a date night. Pairing denim shorts with a dressier tank and wedges or a pair of heels dresses up the outfit just enough! I am wearing these shorts, a similar tank, and similar wedges.
2. Dress If you know me at all, you know that I would live in dresses if I could! Having three small, active boys means I don’t get to wear them as regularly as I like to. That being said, date nights for me – I will usually always be wearing a dress. Depending on where we are going I will dress it up with heels or wedges or dress it down with sandals. I am wearing this dress here.
3. Romper I never underestimate a good romper! I love a good romper and always find myself reaching for mine. Rob and I had a dinner event for a nonprofit we support last night and I wore *almost* this exact outfit. I absolutely adore this romper!
4. Skirt You can never go wrong with a skirt on a date night in the summer months. I love this skirt and will find any excuse to wear it.
This past weekend, Michelle and I flew to Michigan to celebrate our grandmother’s 91st birthday. We had such a special and fun time with her, family, and some of her closest friends. If you are from the midwest, you know that evenings can cool off in the spring/summer months so I had to pack an outfit with that in mind (while still wanting to wear a spring-like outfit), and this is what I chose!
It was the perfect outfit for this occasion but could easily be worn to church or a baby shower. I love how the skirt feels like spring but then I was able to stay warm in the pretty pink sweater and white booties.
Anyone else find it hard to believe that Memorial Day is in 2 weekends?! With this weekend brings so much fun… the countdown to the school year closing out (let’s be honest, I’ve be counting down a while already), the summer vibes that come with it, and the bbqs. We typically go to our local Memorial Day parade to honor those in, and those who have served in the armed forces but not this year (next year!) and spend some time grilling out with family and friends. Memorial Day Weekend gives me all the happy and patriotic feels and I love it!
We put together some outfit looks for your upcoming MDW. One of them is surely to speak to you and go with the events that you have going on that weekend.
Also, Pink Lily has a section on their site that is completely devoted to patriotic attire – we’ve linked some of our favorites from that collection, but shop the entire collection here!
Skinny jeans are still our main style of jeans that we both grab on the regular (they aren’t going anywhere in our book) but I have to say I do love the cropped flare look. It took me a second to get on board and find a pair that fit me the right way (I’m a bit on the shorter end at 5’3) but now that I have them I have to say I do love them!
The pair I got are from Express. They are a light wash denim, are high waisted, and are super stretchy. They have a light raw hem and do not lose their shape/sag as the day goes on.
I don’t know why it took me so long to give this look a shot – but now that I did, there is no turning back! I have found other alternatives to skinny jeans and linked them below for you. Some are cropped flares, some are straight leg, some are mom jeans – but they are all great options if you are looking to expand your wardrobe a bit out of your comfort zone.
